Dumingag Set to Host the 2026 Division Schools Press Conference
DUMINGAG, Zamboanga del Sur — The Municipality of Dumingag, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Zamboanga del Sur and DepEd Dumingag 1 District, will play host to the 2026 Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC), set to take place on September 2–5, 2026, here in Dumingag. The four-day event is expected to draw student journalists, campus paper advisers, and education officials from across the division, as schools converge in Dumingag to compete in the various categories of campus journalism from news and editorial writing to photojournalism, cartooning, and broadcasting. "We are honored to welcome the region's brightest young writers and campus journalists to Dumingag," a local official said. "This is not just a competition it's a platform where students sharpen their voice, their craft, and their sense of truth-telling, values we want every young Dumingagnon to carry forward."
About DSPC
The Division Schools Press Conference is an annual gathering that showcases the skills of student publications and campus journalists across the division. Participants compete in individual and group categories designed to test writing, layout, photography, and broadcasting skills under DepEd's press conference guidelines. This year's staging in Dumingag underscores the municipality's growing role as a venue for regional and division-wide events, following recent investments in local infrastructure and hospitality services to support visiting delegations.
